& COLLECTABLES AUCTION

INCLUDING A 1930 AUSTRALIAN PENNY

Monday 28th August @ 6pm

Image result for 1930 penny

Riding the tram on her way home from school in 1947, a young girl noticed the gentleman beside her reading an article in the evening paper.

The article stated that because of the lack of coins minted during the 1930's depression, a 1930 Australian penny was now worth

10 shillings!

(The average weekly wage in 1947 was 4 pounds)

With this news she raced home and quickly told her mother and asked her if she could please take a look into her penny tin to see if by chance she had such a penny.

As she tipped out all the contents on the kitchen table, she carefully studied each coin.

Well 'low and behold' there amongst the seemingly multitude of pennies lay a penny dated 1930!!!

Over the persuing years, her mother was often tempted to sell the coin as it soared in value. She never did, and on her death she passed it down to the little girl who originally found the coin many years earlier in the penny tin ....... her daughter.

Now aged in her 80's, the daughter needs to sell the penny and distribute the money amongst the children and hopefully take herself and her husband on a nice trip.

The penny is now valued at $25,000

-$30,000
